UCU to launch fundraising drive

Youth within Mbale City will soon have access to free computers to build their ICT skills .

While speaking to the media this morning (Tuesday) at Uganda Christian University Mbale Campus about the launch of a fundraising drive expected to take place this Friday 16th September, 2022 at agape grounds in the university premises, the acting principal Uganda Christian University who is also the College Secretary Dr.Kigenyi Erisa revealed that the drive is intended to gather resources to purchase three hundred computers to equip students and the community.

Dr.Kigenyi said they already have purchased land on which the Computer lab among other facilities will be set up along mugisu hill next to nabuyonga primary school adding that most young people who do not have access to computer skills will now get them for free.

Also expected from the funds raised are a university bus and a multi purpose sports facility within the City.

He also revealed that 1.8 billion shillings is expected to be raised at the end of the day, saying they have so managed to get 300million shillings.

The fundraising event will be graced by H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni as the guest of honor and other dignitaries like ministers,members of parliament and the resident city commissioner Mbale.

The day will start with a brass band match around town at 8.am
Uganda Christian University (UCU) is a Church funded academic institution founded by the church of Uganda and is currently headed by the chancellor who is also the Archbishop of Uganda,Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu.
