Police in Mayuge is investigating circumstances under which a 17 yr old student Aidah Hafuswa was allegedly murdered by her boyfriend.

The two have been class mates in Senior Three at Bunya Secondary School.

Prior to the incident, there are reports that the two had been flaunting their love. However the relationship soured recently when misunderstandings developed over a stolen phone handset.

Fred Mugabi, the headteacher of Bunya Secondary School, said the deceased was granted permission to leave school on June 16 after she claimed that she was sick.

Three days later, she was summoned by police on charges of theft of a mobile phone, a case the boyfriend, a one Kabalaasi, had filed.

It is still unclear how Hafuswa met her death but eye-witnesses said after the police incident, she developed quarrels with Kabalaasi which turned violent and was later found dead in the room she used to rent.

Bashir Siriba the Mayuge District Police Commander said the matter was under investigation and police was on the hunt for the alleged killer.
