Serere MP Okabe and wife perish in road accident

The Serere County Member of Parliament Patrick Okabe, has died in a motor accident.

Bishop Okabe was involved in a head-on collision with a Kenya truck Reg. No. KCX 071K while driving with his wife and driver to Kampala at Naboa along Mbale-Tirinyi road today morning.

Okabe died on the spot while his wife Christine Okabe died shortly after being admitted at Mbale Regional Referral Hospital. Their Driver, only identified as Jacob, remains in critical condition at the same hospital.

A Junior Pastor in Faith Ministries, Mr Joel Namisi confirmed the death of the Bishop adding that his body is lying at Mbale Hospital mortuary.

The traffic police spokesperson ASP Faridah Nampiima, blamed the accident on reckless driving by the truck driver who drifted from his side leading to a head-on collision.
