President Museveni pledges 200 million towards UCU fundraising drive

President Yoweri Museveni has pledged Shs.200 million towards the construction of a multi purpose sports facility in Mbale City and a Three hundred computer laboratory to equip students and the community .

The President’s contribution was made during a fundraising drive at Uganda Christian University (UCU) Mbale College, which was led by the Mbale Resident City Commissioner Ahamada Washaki  yesterday (Friday).

The president said that as the head of state he is very much supportive of the education sector of government and private practioners like UCU.

Mr. Museveni revealed that private universities have a lot to offer in terms of skills development and ICT.

Meanwhile the RCC said that the institution should promote ICT such that the youth get employment opportunities and also be able to create their own jobs, to enable them cope with the world.

Mr.Washaki urged people to use internet responsibly to avoid falling into unwanted trap’s.

The Grand Fundraising was intended to raise a target amount of 1.8 billion shillings.

At the end of the day they received pledges of over 500m .
