Police in Sironko District are investigating a case in which a 15-year-old girl was gang raped and later killed.

The minor only identified as Hazida Mulerenge, a resident of Bubalinga Village,Butezo Sub county in Sironko district was found lying in a pine yesterday afternoon (Wednesday) near a Well where she had gone to wash clothes with her two younger siblings.

The Elgon region police spokesperson, Mr Rogers Taitika while speaking to Time fm this afternoon said the police is searching for Emmanuel Kimasi 20 years ,who is beleived to have attacked the desceased before calling his peers to rape her and behead her.

Mr.Taitika said they have so far arrested one suspect to aid investigations.

“The victim had gone to the well to wash clothes with other two minors, when Emmnauel Kimasi found them there and sent the other two minors home to take some clothes they had already washed ,before attaking and raping her with his friends”. The suspects took off after the incident,” Mr Taitika said.

It is believed that the deceased’s younger sisters had gone home at the time of the incident to return and find their sister missing , prompting them to report to their parents who took the matter to police and a search was mounted.

The body of the deceased has been taken to Mbale regional referral hospital mortuary for post mortem.

The Elgon region PRO has urged parents and guardians to ensure safe custody of their children to avoid such incidents.
