Police have opened investigations into how a private security guard was stoned to death by an angry mob in Kapchorwa district.
Ben Wandera, 31, a security guard attached to Star-React Security Company Limited, was killed after allegedly shooting Emmanual Chemutai 21, a resident of Cheburbei village, Kapkwata Parish, Kween district.
According to an eyewitness, the deceased picked a gun and shot Chemutai in the right arm, after a quarrel.
Hassina Chebet, another witness, says the security guard had started drinking malwa (local brew) as early as 9:30 am in a nearby joint, before going to work at the fuel station.
Fredmark Chesang, the Sipi regional police spokesperson said after Wandera shot his friend, he ran to the police barracks where he was stoned to death.
Chesang said by the time police intervened, Wandera was already dead.
