Four die in Tirinyi-Mbale road accident

Four people are feared dead and dozens seriously injured after three vehicles collided along Mbale-Tirinyi Highway this morning.
The accident occurred at Mile Five; just four Kilometres from Mbale City at around 6:35 am, causing traffic jam for nearly three hours.
North Bukedi Regional Police spokesperson, ASP Immaculate Alaso, confirmed said that the spate of accidents along Mbale-Tirinyi highway, Tirinyi-Pallisa-Kumi and Pallisa –Kamonkoli is increasingly becoming worrying, as many lives are being lost.
ASP Alaso said that the preliminary figure of the deceased is four but there could be others who might have been swept by the water because some of the bodies were retrieved from the running water of River Namatala.
Benard Kapiede, an eyewitness revealed that a speeding commuter taxi heading to Kampala from Mbale side was attempting to overtake another taxi and instead ended up colliding with oncoming Raum car.
Three ambulances were seen at the scene ferrying the injured persons to Mbale Regional Hospital.

Police in Kabarole district are investigating circumstances underwhich a Link Bus registration number UBA 003S overturned along Fort Portal – Kyenjojo road, injuring and killing a number of passengers.
According to the PRO Traffic Police Directorate Faridah Nampiima, the accident happened around 10:30 am this morning.
She said that she could not readily ascertain the number of the dead. Many were injured injured.
Nampiima said a detailed report will be shared after establishing facts around the cause of the accident.
