The Mbale Resident City Commissioner Ahamada Washaki says the death toll from the recent floods that hit Mbale District now stands at 26.
He made the confirmation while being hosted on the Morning Shake up today where he said the government has set aside shs 5million as compensation for each of the families that lost their people.
On the progress made so far, he says they are currently mobilising food relief for residents who have been severely affected with plans to relocate them to a camp and safer places underway.
Mr Washaki also warned those encroaching on nature and other reserves to vacate immediately before plans to forcefully evict them from these areas kick start.
