The Court of Appeal has today the 20th of June 2022, dismissed an election petition filed against Connie Nakayenze Galiwango as Mbale Woman Member of Parliament.

The Petition was filed by Lydia Wanyoto who was the National Resistance Movement party flag bearer in the last elections and was contesting against Connie Nakayenze Galiwango running on independent ticket.

In her petition Wanyoto alleged that the electoral process was marred by widespread vote fraud and bribery by Galiwango and her agents.

In a ruling delivered by a panel of three Judges of Court of Appeal, Wanyoto was informed that she had no valid appeal before the Court.

This was after she and her counsel conceded that both her memorandum and record of appeal were filed out of time.
Wanyoto last year lost the same election petition at Mbale high court before appealing the ruling at the Court of Appeal.
