Activist are expected to file a petition at the Constitutional Court, challenging the Computer Misuse (Amendment) Act, 2022.
According to Alternative Digitalk and 12 others, the law is meant to silence the voices of reasoning.
Uganda Law Society president Bernard Oundo has also instructed the society’s legal wing to petition the Constitutional Court over the Act.
On Thursday, last week, President Yoweri Museveni signed into law the Computer Misuse Act, 2022, which is expected to be enforced unless the court nullifies it.
The Act will enhance the provisions on unauthorised access to data and prohibit the sharing of data relating to children without authorisation from their parents or guardians.
The law further seeks to prohibit sending or sharing false, malicious and unsolicited information.
