A 34-year-old human rights activist and lawyer and ex torture convict Francesca Amony has handed herself over to police in Gulu after stabbing to death her husband, Dr Joseph Etuk.  The deceased was a medical doctor in Mbarara city while Amony is also the former national secretary of the DP Women’s League.

The couple reportedly developed a misunderstanding at their home in Keyi ‘’A’’ Cell in Kabedpong Ward, Gulu city on Friday at around 11 pm.

Amony allegedly picked up a knife and stabbed Etuk who died on the way to Gulu Regional Referral hospital. After the incident, Amony reported herself to Lacor police post in Gulu City for alleged murder.

David Ongom Mudong, the Aswa River regional police spokesperson, said in a statement on Saturday afternoon that a case of murder by stabbing has been preferred against Amony – vide SD Ref: 17/29/10/2022.
